ETSY FAVORITES

I was thinking about starting this post out saying what a bad blogger I am but I realize I pretty much do that everytime. I obviously don't post very often but am trying to work on that. As I have mentioned before, I am most likely moving sometime in the next few months and if this does indeed happen I can't wait to share how I decorate! Until then... Here are some current favorites on ETSY at the moment.

And don't forget about my ETSY Store - Hollie Would Vintage! I am having a sale right now! CHECK IT OUT!

Before and After

So I bought this chair a while back at a house sale for around $6. I had visions of it becoming my little chair to sit on in the foyer of my new place as I put my shoes on... haha is that kind of nerdy??

Anyway, of course it needed a total makeover. The seat fabric was totally ugly and not to mention completely dusty and dirty, and the wood needed a fresh coat of paint.

This is the fabric I decided to go with. It was either between this or a great pink wood grain fabric. I bought both but decided to go with this one because it seemed to be a sturdier fabric. I bought this lovely fabric here.

This is the paint color. I don't remember the name of it off hand but as you can see it is a turquoise color. I got the paint at Wal-Mart.

And here is the final product! With the help of my mom I painted, sanded and recovered the seat. We just took off the old fabric and stapled on the new!

I am very pleased with how it turned out. Now if only I would hear for sure about my potential new place.......

Hello

Not being a very good blogger I guess. I have been thinking about posting for a long time and just never get around to it. Lots of stuff going on in my life right now. One good thing that is going on is that I am very close to becoming a first time home owner (I hope I am not jinxing myself by talking about it)! Just waiting for one final approval. I can't wait to decorate a new place and share pics! I have been checking out Etsy overtime planning on things I want to buy.
And speaking of Etsy... Here are a few of my current finds in my shop!

I will be back soon to share some craftys I have been working on!

The Mini's have arrived.....

So for what seemed like months my parents contemplated getting some other animal to add to the growing collection (Actually, Banner the horse will be leaving soon and Thunder the horse needed some field mates so he wouldn't be lonely. Horses apparently hate being alone.) They toyed with the idea of goats, llamas, emus...... but one day the choice seemed to be clear..... MINI DONKEYS! Somehow my mom found an ad on Craig's List of someone selling two mini donkeys. We went to see them a few months ago and I believe we all fell in love with them pretty much right away.... And finally on Saturday morning they arrived to their new home. Their names are Talulahbell and Dozer (short for Bulldozer). Bell is Dozer's mom. They are so sweet and don't seem to be stressed about the move or the new horses checking them out. They aren't very active, but they are so funny to look at! I am sure I will have plenty of pictures of them in the future. I have plans to put some hats on their heads and take photos...... :)

This is Bell. Is that not the funniest face EVER?
This is Dozer the son. I don't think he looks as crazy as his mom.

Thunder (The Horse) wasn't to sure about the Donkeys at first.
Bell and Dozer doing what they do best.....

Is it Picnic season yet??

So I have FINALLY been able to get a few more projects done for the Red Velvet Art spring class I have been taking. Last weekend I went to visit my sister (Cre8Art) in Rochester and we decided to get our craft on! I am not a sewer so she had to help me with project #2 X Marks the Spot Picnic Blanket. With the help of my lovely sister, my first real sewing project since 8th grade Home-Ec turned out pretty good!

Gretel's sewing machine/area

Measuring out the fabric. I pre-washed the fabric and MAN did it shrink! My blanket ended up being quite a bit smaller than the tutorial says because of how much it shrank! But that is ok. It still is a nice size and looks good!
Don't I look like a PRO?? :)

I guess I was turning the blanket right side out and just checking on our handy work.

This is the finished blanket! Pretty, right?? Instead of embroidering an 'X' on the blanket I decided to embroider around one of the flowers. I am not finished with that part of it yet, but this is what I have so far.....

And pardon the messy hair and makeupless face, but can someone tell me why it is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for me to thread a needle??? After taking pictures and laughing at me for a long time, Gretel finally helped a sister out.....

I was also able to work on one of my 'Hide them Here' Journal covers (project 4). I was really excited about this. I guess I have seen Moleskine Journals in the bookstores before, but never paid much attention to them. Well, now I will have a hard time passing them up when I see them! I ALWAYS have a notepad of some sort with me to write in and now I can buy these and decorate them myself! How fun!

I haven't updated in awhile and the pictures below are one of the big reasons why. I opened up an Etsy store and have been spending a lot of time on that and really enjoying it! It is so fun to go out and find treasures to add to the store. I use to just do it for myself and for my house so it seems fitting to do it for others! I do have to admit, though, that it is hard to give up some of this stuff! I just LOVE that hand bottle!

I am really excited about the Spring online class I am taking from Rachel and Elsie of Red Velvet Art. We are in to week 2 and unfortuately I have only been able to finish one project so far. But that is ok! I have plenty of time to get my crafty, creativity on and I plan to do just that very soon! It has been fun to check out other peoples blogs from the class and see what they have been creating. Big hello to all in the class if you are checking me out! Below are some pictures of the Rainbow mini album that was the first project. I haven't completed the inside yet, but really had fun putting the outside together. I have a new found respect for felt now! It is a lot of fun to work with.

Well, I guess that is all for now! I will be sure to start posting more often again!!

Before and After

So over the past couple months I have been going to lots of estate sales and garage sales preparing for my Etsy shop and have come across some things that I kept and repurposed. Don't you think yard sales and thrift stores are so exciting!? It is going to be hard for me to give up some of the vintage stuff that I have found, but I will! Keep watch... I will be opening up my store soon! Sooooo anyway, as I was saying...
This huge frame/ugly picture (which isn't even on canvas...it is like cardboard or something) I got at a yard sale for $3. I had big plans for it!

I wanted to make it into a big bulletin board. I am new to this so unfortunately I didn't take any pictures along the way.... but this is what it turned into!

And again for this bookshelf I forgot to take a before picture but trust me, it was a fake yellow wood and pretty ugly looking. This is what a little paint can do! I love this little piece of furniture.

And finally I just wanted to show these lovely candlesticks I found at a garage sale. THESE I will be keeping! I love the clear blue glass.
