So I have FINALLY been able to get a few more projects done for the Red Velvet Art spring class I have been taking. Last weekend I went to visit my sister (Cre8Art) in Rochester and we decided to get our craft on! I am not a sewer so she had to help me with project #2 X Marks the Spot Picnic Blanket. With the help of my lovely sister, my first real sewing project since 8th grade Home-Ec turned out pretty good!

Gretel's sewing machine/area

Measuring out the fabric. I pre-washed the fabric and MAN did it shrink! My blanket ended up being quite a bit smaller than the tutorial says because of how much it shrank! But that is ok. It still is a nice size and looks good!
I guess I was turning the blanket right side out and just checking on our handy work.

This is the finished blanket! Pretty, right?? Instead of embroidering an 'X' on the blanket I decided to embroider around one of the flowers. I am not finished with that part of it yet, but this is what I have so far.....

And pardon the messy hair and makeupless face, but can someone tell me why it is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for me to thread a needle??? After taking pictures and laughing at me for a long time, Gretel finally helped a sister out.....
I was also able to work on one of my 'Hide them Here' Journal covers (project 4). I was really excited about this. I guess I have seen Moleskine Journals in the bookstores before, but never paid much attention to them. Well, now I will have a hard time passing them up when I see them! I ALWAYS have a notepad of some sort with me to write in and now I can buy these and decorate them myself! How fun!
